well, My specialized wheels are pissing me off because they just wont stay true. the "seam" has a nice little flat spot that myself and my local shop can't get rid of. and there is also a flair out at the seam that I have to way over tighten the spokes on either side to come even close to getting it nice.
Now I really want a set of mavic Crossmax 29er's but my wallet just keeps throwing stuff at me when I even begin to talk about them...

...So looking around for a reasonable wheel set for the 29er I came across these Velocity Blunt Rims laced to Shimano XT 759 hubs for $239... At first I thought they would just be garbage but after reading around the web I came to a new conclusion on the Blunt rims, and with XT hubs?, while not the best, but far from the worst. So after a little haggling I got them shipped to me for $199.00 Sweet deal, no way I could get these parts for that price else where.

They arrived super fast, 2 days!! WOOOOHOOOO

Got them today and first off, mint "green" they aren't, more of a "sea foam" BLUE.. with a hint of green maybe. OK, they are going to look super ridiculous on the dark green bike, with the dayglo green/yellow cable and red Magura Disc brake rotors right?
AHHH who cares!! I like it "standing out" So I'll go with it. Bike will be easy to identify if stolen right?

Not expecting much in the way of a quality build for that price, but was pleasantly surprised after slapping them on my truing stand by just how true & round they were, not perfect, but damn close. not going to bother touching them yet.
Weight is the a tad lighter than the Specialized though not much 1200 gram rear w/skewer and 1005 front (specialized was 1205 with out skewer rear and 1100 front) So I dropped a little over 100 grams each wheel, not bad for 200 bucks...
Still have to mount them up, but waiting on another brake disc and I'll need a new rear tire (the Maxxis tire blew on the side wall)
so more to come.... post a pic later tonight of them.
