I got a K2 apache 2 yrs ago... and got to say it's probably my favorite bike of all time!! it's a rather long story On how I cae to get it but I'll tell ya I test rode many "name brand" bikes. there where those that were obviously better bikes but he prices where in the $5000 and up and i was keeping it under $2000... there just wasn't any other bike in that price range that gave a good pedal bob resistance as well as all the drivetrain, brakes and other parts of this quality and feature richness!! Most in the dollar range were using much lower grade parts, (derailiurs, shifters, brakes, etc)
the suspension has been nothing but a dream to ride on!! it is easily adjustable which is great when I go from Long Island riding to CT riding. both shock and forks are perfect even to this day with zero maintenance on them other than basic cleaning and care after over 2 yrs of 3 times a week riding.
I did switch the brakes to Avid Mech BB7's I actually prefer them over Hydros that came with the bike do to the easy maintenance that I can do myself.
the only real issue I ever had was the Cranks ( Truvativ FireX) kept coming apart.. which Sram repalce for me with Stylos!!! YAAAAAAA
rating the bike? I'd give it a 9 out of 10, better than anything else in it's price range for sure!! to bad it's discontinued!!
