The new ride.....
« on: July 15, 2009, 09:31:59 PM »
Here she is... In keeping the Specialized tradition alive, I just came home with an '07 Stumpjumper FSR Pro.  :cheesy:

Fox Talas fork, AFR shock w/ Brain, Magura Marta hydraulic disc brakes, DT Swiss, SRAM X.0, lots of good parts... and it is obvious.  I just rode it around my yard and its a night and day difference from any other bike I have owned.  Can't wait to take it out and scratch her up!!   :evil12:

I'm hoping to get out after dinner tomorrow night, just for an hour's ride to test her out.  I want to try to set the suspension tonight, but I'm not an expert with that stuff so I definitely won't get it nailed down on the first try... And put my new bike computer on it as well.

Last night I threw my ODI Rogue Grips on, and then weighed the bike... was very pleased to find out that it weighs two pounds LESS than my Epic.  OH YEAH!  26 lbs, not bad at all for a full suspension bike... But still no super light-weight.

I worked on setting up the suspension last night, the rear had WAY too much air pressure, didn't want to move at all when I got it and it had about 40 psi too much.  Now its nice and plush, unless I set the Brain to firm, and its semi-HT-ish.  The great part is that when you climb, it doesn't bob.  But it'll give when it hits a bump.  I came flying into my driveway from the road, sitting on the seat, and hit the lip of the driveway (a good 2" rounded off bump), didn't feel a thing.

I spent a good 15 minutes in the driveway and the yard last night messing around with the settings, trying to dial it in.  A lot of it is going to be out on the trail and that'll vary depending on the trail.  After 15 minutes of jumping it and flying in and out of my yard, going down the steps of my walkway, I was DRENCHED.  I can't believe how humid it was!!!  This was about 30 minutes before the lightning arrived.

Honestly the last thing I need to do is lose more weight...  I was down to 173.5 this morning, all time new low and I'm pretty happy there.  But my friends think i'm anorexic or something.

I used to be about 190 (3 years ago?), I once hit 206 but went back to 190's instantly when I saw that high number.  But damn, I am way faster on the MTB now!

Might just have to buy one of those sweat/head bands with this humidity though, even though I shave my hair down to a #1.

I use a sweat vac band, thing is sweet, not only does it absorb great, but it cools as the wind blows over it... I highly recommend!!

Whoa... credit card theft with Nashbar?  I recently had some crapola going on with my CC and we got a new one.

edit - just did a search, I can't believe how much CC BS is going on with Nashbar... wow... that could very well be the reason why I had been billed for Skype and some other garbage that we never signed up for.  Nashbar lost my business....
