Took the bike out to the trails in Trumbull yesterday.  First time there, sort of a relaxing ride since my friend went for basically is 2nd MTB ride ever.  But the bike was terrific!  I even went off a rock ledge that had just about a four-foot drop, and I landed about ten feet out.  It climbs very well and I played with the Brain a little to see how I liked the rear suspension.  Overall, this is by far the nicest bike I have ever ridden.

I'm hoping to hit up Tyler Mill today, but after partying last night I am pretty beat.  Went to bed at 2am, up at 6:30am.  I hate it when I just wake up randomly and can't fall back to sleep!!!

It was "used".  Honestly there are so many people selling mountain bikes that are used that are in brand new condition that its sad (for the bike, but good for people like you and me!).  My last Epic I picked up on craigslist from a guy in Manhattan that rode it on the SIDEWALK twice!!!!!!  Never saw dirt.  This bike had a couple chips in the paint, it was slightly used off-road, but not much at all.  Here's one of the pics that the guy sent me in a zip file when I inquired about it.

sweeeettt... looks pretty nice... mostly higher end components too.   how are those brakes?  I once looked at the magura systems but they were just to $$$ for me.

It shifts so crisp, its amazing... the brakes are very nice.  To me, brakes are brakes... until they fail or make a ton of noise.  These work well, but no noise (yet).  They got awesome reviews online too which was one of the reasons why I was looking for the Stumpjumper PRO (came stock with the Magura's).

ya, I'm a big fan of Sram drivetrain over shimano.... all I get is trouble with Shim's stuff..  sram.. well it just works.. even when here is an issue (like a crash)

Here's a quick and crappy video from my camera phone of the drop that I did.  I purposely faded the end out, cause it wasn't a pretty landing.   :halo:  Although I didn't fall!!!!!!!  I added more psi to my front fork, I think it bottomed out and that's why I got off kilter.

I never do either.... maybe 1/2 that would be something I did before.  But I think yesterday I saw it, I scoped out the landing area which didn't look too bad, and I went and did it.  About 10 feet before the drop I was thinking "What the heck am I about to do???"  Then the next thing I know I'm landing and my main concern was a nose-dive.  But it landed ok, I just veered off to the left pretty hard. LOL.

Now the 3 foot drops will be cake!   :evil12:

some pics from this morning's ride.  and OH MY GOD this bike is unreal compared to my other bikes.  I was RIPPING through the trails, hardly got caught up on any logs like my Epic did... I can't wait to go out with my expert-level riding buddy to see if I can keep up with him now.
