well, I normally am not up to the current date on stuff like this because I'm always going to the discounted "last yr's model" to save $$$$. But, Sram it seems for 2009 has changed a few things on their rear derailleurs.
The "B" adjustment screw system has gotten rid of the little tear drop and shifted the screw over to basically hit right on the hangers tab. there is a piece there still but it just makes the hangers tab stick down farther.
the cable screw is now inside. they probably thought this would protect it but it actually makes it so you have no ability to really get at it if there is an issue. When installing I like to leave it a bit long to make sure all the housings are set in the caps and such, but you can no longer do this because the cable will get all tangled up in the chain, wheel, or cassette.
what were they thinking? :-? it's also a lot harder to get at the screw and tighten it.
Also with this new cable mounting system they changed the angle of the cable housing retaining hole. now the cable has to kinda bulge out from the bike so as to not kink it. One of the many things about sram I liked over shimano was that the rear derailleur cable was short and tight to the rear triangle/chain stay, very little to get snagged that way. It's still not as bad as the Shimano's "super loop" needed to be installed but it was better before.
one last little thing, not something that really matters but i think it looks cooler 8-), they now have the "spoked" jocket wheels.. big whoop!
