I'm Selling My 26'r ....
« on: November 28, 2009, 11:08:23 PM »
I've heard this a couple of times now from different peeps.
Sad.
How can one unload any bike that rides well?
One person i know told me that they are selling all their bikes that are not 29'rs.
I've also heard some say that after riding a 29'r, their 26'rs feel tiny/cramped/twitchy/slower...etc. etc.
Sad indeed.

"Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got til it's gone"

I won't be unloading a single 26'r in my stable. The 29 is fun and exciting in it's own way. After switching back and fourth from 26's to my 29'r, i'm convinced that the love of my 26'rs is FOREVER.

The bitterness of poor workmanship remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten...

well, I was alllllll ready to sell my K2 this past month, more cause I need the $$$$$$$ so I decided to get pretty ugly new grips for my Green Bling bike and while I was waiting I would give the lawn mower wheeled bike a final ride while making sure everything was good for whom ever was going to purchase it. WELL....  errrrrrrr now I want to keep it  :undecided:..  it's so, soft and easy to ride, small and agile. Just a slightly different kinda ride.  A Lot has nothing to do with the wheel size but the geometry and components on the bike....  SOooo....  looks like I'm keeping it... ummmm please don't say anything to my wallet.... It'll be PISSED!!!   :grr2:

Hi. My name is Paul and I am considering selling my.....................road bike to buy a 29'er.

I know. the horror!

But I rarely use her because LI drivers are the ABSOLUTE WORST! and I have been assaulted by rocks. buzzed way to closely for comfort. and she doesn't get the road love she deserves.

So it's not my 26'er it's a 700c.............same difference?

and yes I know...................admitting my problem is the first step to getting cured!

dude !!! I took up MT biking when living out there on the island, I was "bumped" by car mirrors more than once and my landlady was actually driven over and shattered her knee.....  :o >:(  So I know where you are coming from!!

I needed to ride becasue I had just had knee surgery, walking is BAD!! and I couldn't sit in some gym and stare at the hot chicks, I mean the wall all day   ::)  Doctor actually recommended it!! said it's better for the knee that even road biking because you never "lock" your knee with your leg in full extension. it's always bent. so even though it's rougher terrain, it's better for your knees... who'd a thought right?

but for you my friend, MR DownHill Cracker Jack.... get this for a 29er

yes, it's still a proto, but I believe this will be the first "production" 29er Downhill bike  ;)

what do you mean by "entry"?  what do you want?

guessing a hardtail, 27 speed? 4 inch fork?

you're not looking for a rigid or SS are you?

Hey Cracker: Selling a road bike is a good thing!  (ditto on "hating cars")

Why the heck would anyone want that?!

So, Mr. Cracker, what's your poison? FS, HT, what?
Lets see some pics of the possible candidates.

I'm leaning towards FS.  But haven't fully decided yet.

And I have no candidates yet!

That's why I'm here.............for suggestions!

So................ante up!!

My first problem is to actually sell the RB.

Well, I LOVE my voodoo...    umm can't remember but there is a dealer out there on the island..  Giant is putting theirs out right around X-mas I believe...  Fisher HiFi is always sweet!!.. many more but most aren't what I'd think of as "entry"  in all reality the Voodoo Canzo 29er is going to be you're least expensive, If you shop deals and build it yourself...

Now's the time too...  drive trains, brakes, just about everything is on sale...

frame is about $200 bucks off at Beyondbikes. In Black cause I know you don't want slime green!!

seat, post, bars, stem and front derail ...bla bla bla... I'm sure you can scrounge up just like I did!!  I got a set of Kenda Tires I'll give ya, will be good for starters!! plenty of tread... play and decide what will work best for you later and the initial sticker shock of a new bike passes...

leaves ya fork and wheels... which I'll let you decide on.. but sales are out there big time...
 ;D
And headset, bring it to a shop.. get a cane creek s-3 for 30-40 bucks and have them install it (most around here do it for free with purchase)  one thinig I wont bother getting tools to do, just not worth it for the few times I'd ever do it.

but there ya go.. if you get basic wheels and find a Manitou or Reba fork on sale under $300 (which they are out there) you have a new full squishy 29er for under $1500 (mine came to about $1300, but I pulled a lot from the pumpkin..)

Oh and if you want, I'll build it for ya!!!  ;D
