Alternatives to nevegals?
« on: April 28, 2009, 04:31:42 PM »
Been riding a nevegal 2.35 up front on my bike for a few weeks now and it is everything that people have said ;D but the rolling resistance is like riding through peanut butter :(

I was looking at panaracer fire xc pro. Anyone have experience with these?

The panaracers are ok.. it would depend on what trails im riding.. nevegals are the do anything tire and honestly i love them they are a good weight and tackel anything.

If your looking for a lighter quicker tire.. I put the kenda small block eights on my 29'er hardtail and they are quick.. they bite well but if its muddy they are not fun...
They also kick butt on the street too!!

Thanks Hooples,

I have read up some on the sb8's and other people say the same thing. I don't ride on mud much but we do have a lot of loose gravel, sand, soil.

Maybe I'll give them a try.

Steve

Steve, try spinning the tire around.. depending on how the ramps hit the ground can make it better for front or rear.
panaracer's are going to be about the same if not worse depending on width. Also I have found that the thinner ones (1.9, 2.1) are just fine for our terrain and cut the resistance back a bit.
May your last ride not be, "your last ride"!!

I'm getting used to the rolling resistance now on the neve's and love the grip. Only went out twice this week but it handled great! The Tioga rear wheel does okay too, doesn't break free much even in loose stuff but doesn't like wet rock!!

Think I'm gonna order a neve' for the back as well as soon as finances allow :undecided:
