Quick release to 20mm through axle?
« on: January 22, 2009, 08:09:50 PM »
Really kinda want to get a better fork for my 29er.  I found a really nice Manitou Minute 29er 100mm.  Problem is.. my bike is Quick release. it's a 20mm through Axle. Can I convert my wheel easy? I have noooo clue of the diff mount ( other than the obvious bolting compared to a QR clipping) is it as easy as just pulling the QR and sliding in the bolt axle?

anyone got a clue?

The 20mm thru axel is good it adds stiffnes to the fork and changing the wheel is fairly easy since the axel goes through the hub and  fork. Now you will have to get a thru axel hub to do this and your choice would be ether re build your wheel with a new hub or buy a new wheel.

ya.. went to my local shop and got basically the same info.. by the time I got the hub and/or wheel... set everything up I'd end up about the same as just getting a higher priced fork.... bummer cause I really don't like the Dart Fork much    :-[

I got a Manatou six fork used one season if you don't like the dart. I could use the $$$ for the felt.
